It’s that slippery time of year where time melts away, and we ease into the holiday season. ❄️☕️
For those who haven’t fully succumbed to well deserved hibernation, we’re happy you’re here for our monthly Heart-2-Heart — Intention 2 Impact’s newsletter where we share what’s on our mind, in our hearts, and up our sleeves.
This month, we play back some stats on the year, share a few of our team’s favorite holiday traditions, and set some intentions for 2023.
On Our Minds
Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year? 🎶
2022 was a helluva year at Intention 2 Impact! We are still working on our official annual report that will grace your inboxes in January (or whenever, time is a construct). For now, some general stats to round out the year:
THE HUSTLE:

11 clients
12 rockstar team members + consultants (s/o: Blake, Maria, Adriana, Rebecca, Carolyn, Lina, Elizabeth, Katie, Sahiti, Jane, & John)

Nina & Kathleen flew a total of 67,920 miles (27 personal trips & 5 work)

Kathleen ran 2 marathons & a 14 mile trail race
Nina went to 136 boxing classes
BEHIND THE SCENES:
46,929 Slack messages exchanged
178,437* minutes on Zoom (*completely made up, but it was lot)
5,983,127* lessons learned (*completely made up, but it was lot)
2 times fabricating data ( ^ ahem, that’s it - we promise)
THE IMPACT:
Our hustle, heart, and the nitty gritty behind the scenes have manifested in research, evaluation, and strategy to…
Increase visibility of social innovators
Support legal action and advocacy for climate justice
Inform narrative change for housing affordability
Improve fundraising and funding for research on Alzheimer’s, Glaucoma, & Macular Degeneration
Measure ecosystem impact of fintech accelerators and cross-sector solutions to advance financial health
Harvest outcomes of 12+ years of oral health funding
Inform dissemination of cooperative development research
Assess outcomes of a STEM pen pal program
Explore social bonds as a tool for nonprofit infrastructure
Support a growing network of social entrepreneurs tackling the SDGs
It’s been another transformative, fun, and humbling year for I2I. Thanks for being along for the ride — we couldn’t (& wouldn’t) do it without you!
In Our Hearts
We asked I2I core team members about their favorite winter holiday traditions. So cozy up with some hot cocoa and indulge in our recollections!
MARIA: On Christmas Eve, my family gathers in their new Christmas pajamas to watch 2 movies. Since there’s 9 of us, it’s comical to watch everyone figure out where to sit - some are on the floor, others are three deep on the couch, chairs from different rooms are dragged in. It’s like Christmas tetris! 🍿
BLAKE: We drive around and look at lights, my dad makes about 500 cookies, we drink Egg Nog with Fireball and watch Die Hard, Scrooged, and Rudolph. It’s the only day of the year I play video games. I get nice and drunk, listen to choral music by the tree next to the fire while drawing. Pretty basic, but I love it. 🎄
NINA: My extended family does a “White Elephant” gift exchange on Christmas Eve and a PJ party brunch on Christmas Morning with a Secret Santa exchange. As a newer married tradition... Darren [my husband] and I started gifting each other a book, ornament, and vinyl record! This keeps our gift giving simple, yet thoughtful. 🎁
KATHLEEN: The last 4 years we’ve done a holiday potluck brunch with friends. In addition to food, each couple brings a game or “challenge” for a mini “holiday Olympics” or sorts. My competitive juices get flowing as we compete in egg tosses, cookie decorating challenges, and Xmas trivia. 🍪
What holiday traditions of the past or present bring you joy this time of year? Drop us a line and let us know!
Up Our Sleeves
Next year, we’re looking forward to learning and doing more related to:
Impact measurement for innovative social financing
Emergent learning for complex systems change
Data-driven strategy support for social enterprises
Resting as hard as we work + play
Deepening relationships
Creating space for change
In the meantime, we’re closing shop from December 23rd to January 6th to spend time with loved ones and recharge before the new year.
See ya on the flip side!
